Provide day-to-day administrative office support to Deputy Assistant Secretary. Prepare correspondence, documents and reports using MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Oversee record management. Keep calendar and schedule meetings. Receive and route calls. Maintain, store and duplicate classified materials. Schedule classified and unclassified visit requests for personnel and visitors. Greet and escort guests, government officials and diplomats. Calculate time and attendance. Arrange seminars. Distribute mail. Manage and coordinate international and domestic travel arrangements. Facilitate completion of Visa, Passport, Cable and Country clearances for foreign travel. Process and submit government travel orders and claims for personnel traveling both domestically and internationally. Maintain conference room calendars. Prepare and disseminate minutes of meetings. |

TEMPORARY POSITION = HIRE DATE TO DECEMBER 31, 2008.
Perform all aspects of researching, planning, acquiring distribution rights and satellite coordinates, and scheduling of sports programming on American Forces Network radio and multiple channels of AFN television.
Analyze and determine relative popularity of upcoming competitive sports in America and participate in discussions to determine the best sports events to air. Develop with coworkers a long-range plan for all upcoming sporting events worthy of worldwide broadcast on AFN. Determine availability and originating source of broadcast coverage of those events.
Recommend scheduling of individual team match ups or events while considering established programming philosophies, strategies and policies to ensure balanced coverage by type, region, league, team, seasonal priorities, including performance records of players and history of teams involved.
Coordinate operational procedures with other work groups to implement scheduling decisions. Determine satellite coordinates, transponder and other technical information for events. Respond to special events programming or dynamic changes that require immediate schedule changes.
Ensure accuracy of each event's transmission by verifying start times, transmission and source elements, satellite transponder coordinates, contingency and backup programming, digital authorizations and day-of-air technical points of contact. Monitor network advisories and websites of main public, private and cable networks for last minute schedule changes.
Ensure all television programs are accurately listed in TV traffic logs. Assist in acquiring network commercial break formats and cues for use by operations during live broadcasts. Draft and deliver sports logs and verified reports to supervisor, other contractors and managers.
Develop contingency plan for alternate coverage, and provide all changes to numerous departments as they occur.
Assist in resolution of operational conflicts. Monitor daily reports of discrepancies in recording, scheduling and broadcast of programs. Analyze and identify the cause of problems and recommend corrective actions.
Build and maintain relationships with industry executives in order to coordinate team, league, and conference points of contact and broadcast transmission specifications.
Work pro-actively with Marketing Division. Support Affiliate Relations Division. Write promotional copy for press releases, website postings, and briefings.
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of all major and collegiate sports, national sports polls, box score, broadcast coverage, and be well-read on all mass media genres (newspapers, magazines, industry periodicals and internet sports sites) covering sports. Have knowledge of radio and television program formats and familiarity with the game format of all major sports events, ability to rapidly navigate and manipulate a variety of complex computer databases, and the ability to communicate technical information orally and in writing.
Full time, temporary position with some overtime, most likely on Sundays. Overtime and Sunday Differential paid.
Position term is from hire date to December 31, 2008.
Bachelor's degree in broadcasting or related field as a minimum required. Previous experience also required. |
